Abstract

Sething: Pre-school age children are children aged 4–6 years. This pre-school age child shows progressive development of gross motor, fine motor, verbal and social skills. In pre-school age children, growth takes place stably, there is development with increased physical activity and increased skills and thinking processes in children. In this day and age, one of the electronic media that almost all people use is television. Television also provides various kinds of entertainment such as news programs, soap operas, recitation, comedy, cartoon films and many others. However, watching cartoon films actually discourages children from interacting with their surroundings because it is too cool to watch cartoons. Based on this event the researcher was interested in examining whether there was a relationship between cartoon films and the level of development of pre-school children. Objective : to determine the relationship between cartoon films and pre-school children's developmental levels. Methods: This design used a cross sectional approach with a sample of 93 children with a total sampling method. Results: The result of this research is that the category of interest in cartoon films is sometimes as much as 32.3%, the category often is 54.8%, while the category is very frequent as much as 12.9% and the level of development in the category develops according to expectations as much as 65.6 and the category is developing. very good as much as 34.4%. From the results of the Spearman test, it shows that there is a significant relationship between cartoon films and the level of development of pre-school age children at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Bandongan Kindergarten, this is indicated by a correlation value of -0.569 with a significant value of 0.001 (p value <α 0.05). the result that Ha is accepted. Conclusion: Cartoon films are related to the level of development. Suggestion: the results of this study are expected to provide knowledge for children and parents in order to limit themselves, parents can also monitor children in watching cartoons. Educational institutions are expected to provide education to parents to monitor their children watching cartoon films on television.
